Great game! The art style is beautiful. I really love your use of colour to emphasis the emotional change as the story progresses; from the darker tones of the opening creating a gloomier more sullen atmosphere, to the softer, warmer palette as soon as we enter the book.
I really feel bad for Eva, I can't blame her at all for her actions in the endings, considering what she's been through
This game is absolutely adorable, I love it, the sense of kids book magic is overwhelmingly good, the characters are so cute, the story is short but sweet and when the game gets spooky well, it gets spooky alright.
Is rare to see Visual Novels developed in Unity, and I think this one looks gorgeous but it should be noted that the text at the end fades before anyone can actually read it, should let the player click to skip, also although the text scrolling effect really gives the game a book vibe that fits perfectly I think it should be better to make it a little faster (or make a menu option for scrolling speed).
Eva is absolutely adorable and terrifying at the same time, actually, all the cast in this small game is so adorable, I love it all, I hope you keep making games like this one because it was such a treat for this Halloween season.
The art is gorgeous, and the way the plot unfolds as you progress is quite nice considering the lenght it has. You really don't see the plot twist coming, and when it arrives, the tonality changes completely!
I just loved the good ending, (didn't try the bad one, nor do I inted to lol) and how things turned out in the end.
Also, nice to see another Unity made game! The UI and the letters going that way really felt quite cool and added a great vibe to the game, along with the music you selected!
(replied on the submission page, but I’ll make a copy here)
Unity fam yay! Thanks heaps for trying out our game, my team mate did a great job putting everything together in such a short time. His knowledge of Unity really gave alot of creative freedom on my side. Thanks again for the review :)
No plans to put on Steam at the moment. Also we unfortunately didn't have time to add gamepad support. We are planning on making some quality of life improvements to the game so I'll take that into consideration though.
Thanks for giving it a try! This was my first attempt at a VN and I think my partner and I overall satisfied, might release minor updates now that we've met the deadline.
I would never have guessed it was a first attempt! I definitely think you guys did fantastically either way :3 I hope you have given yourselves a giant pat on the back and treated yourselves to some tasty celebration noms :D
oh my god it was beautiful I really loved all the art (and especially Sweetie and her scene!! such a cool perspective drawing); the painterly artstyle is amazing and fits the fairytale vibe a lot (and final Eva's sprite gave me chills, so cool) it's just so pretty from the first page to the last ohhhh
the music fits perfectly, very fairytale-like
the story is short and sweet, although feels a little bit rushed - I wish there were just a little bit more hints about Eva's identity and Henry's amnesia / source of discontent in life
overall, a nice little nugget of a game, as a lover of fairytale-like games, I'm really glad I gave it a shot
Thanks heaps for playing our game~! And yeah, we sorta ran out of time, so there's a lot of room to further improve lol. There's definitely more to these two characters' background which we have yet to include. For now, we'll take note. Thanks again for the review~!
(in terms of technical improvements - it really, really needs some kind of a 'skip' button, I had to manually click through everything again just to make an alternative final choice... and it didn't allow me to at least speed up the text so that was kind of... mildly annoying. I assume it's because you did everything in plain Unity, so no hard feelings but please do consider it!)

No chance for Mac coming anytime soon?

You did a great job on this Spooktober game!
(Copypasted from my jam review to help this game with the algorithm in Itch.io!)
I love the character art for this game - it's some of the best in the entire jam IMHO. The storybook feeling is really cute too.
Thanks for making this!

Keep up the good work!
This was such a nice, little story.

Interesting art style. No Gamepad support? Will you put on steam?

Both the story and the art were adorable :3 I'm absolutely in love with the art style and fairytale vibes <3

ah~ thanks for the heads up. We were discussing about it during the late stages of play tests so we were definitely aware of the problem.
